Here you find the largest and most complete Cistercian abbeys in the world. The monastery is built around the XIIIth Century church. The grandeur of it’s architecture includes a fortified Royal mansion where the Pantheon of the Aragonese crown kings can be found.

Santes Creus had its moment of glory during the XIIIth and XIV Century, thanks to Kings Peter the Great and Jaume II el Justo (the fair) and his wife Blanca d’Anjou who chose the place as their pantheon and protected it. Their remains rest in the church in two monuments considered masterpieces of the early Catalan Gothic and the only ones that are left untouched of the kings of the Aragonese Crown.
